NASSAU, BS – 28 February, 2012. Leading life and health insurer Colina Insurance Limited has signed on as title sponsor of the 2012 Bahamas Carifta Trials. Under terms of the agreement, the pre-qualifying meet scheduled for March 23-24 in New Providence will officially be known as the 2012 Colina Carifta Trials.
Melanie Hutcheson, Corporate Communications Officer, Colina Insurance limited; Mike Sands, President, BAAA; Alpheus Finlayson, Public Relations Officer, BAAA; and Harrison Petty, President, Parents Association of Track and Field Athletes.
“This new partnership between Colina and the BAAA is a perfect match, as both are aiming to create a healthier, better Bahamas,” said Colina’s Corporate Communications Officer Melanie Hutcheson. “The events surrounding CARIFTA, including the national Trials and the regional Games, have been instrumental in discovering talent and developing outstanding young athletes throughout the Caribbean. We are pleased to be able to assist the BAAA in their continued efforts to showcase The Bahamas’ best junior athletic talent.”
The year 2012 marks the 60th anniversary of the BAAA, and the Colina CARIFTA Trials will be a key highlight of the year, said BAAA President, Mike Sands. “We are appreciative of the confidence Colina has shown in the BAAA and promise to make the 2012 Colina Carifta Trials spectacular and spectator friendly as our athletes battle for spots on the team bound for the CARIFTA Games in Bermuda. Every effort is being made by our management and coaching teams to produce the best team possible and top the thirty-one medals won last year.”
Colina has a longstanding tradition of serving the sporting community in The Bahamas. “We are thrilled to support the national CARIFTA Trials and to share in the pride of this spectacular event,” Hutcheson added.
