Colina Celebrates Autism Awareness Month

Insurer Donates to Resources and Education for Autism and related Challenges (R.E.A.C.H.)

Nassau, The Bahamas, April 25, 2025 – In recognition of Autism Awareness Month, Colina Insurance Limited (Colina) reaffirmed its commitment to community wellbeing by donating $15,000 to Resources and Education for Autism and related Challenges (R.E.A.C.H.). The donation will support a variety of programmes and initiatives aimed at assisting individuals diagnosed with autism and their families.

Colina has supported R.E.A.C.H. for over a decade, displaying the company’s dedication to meaningful community partnerships.

“Colina is proud to continue its long association with R.E.A.C.H.,” said Marcus Bosland, Chief Operating Officer. “Colina sees its partnership with R.E.A.C.H. as part of the company’s community service.”

The longstanding partnership between Colina and R.E.A.C.H. has provided critical support for the organisation’s outreach and growth. With Colina’s continued investment, R.E.A.C.H. has been able to expand its services and introduce programmes tailored to the evolving needs of the autism community.

“This partnership has been rewarding and has allowed us to fuel a lot of our programs,” said Dwayne Gibson, Chairman of R.E.A.C.H. “Funding from Colina will allow us to be more innovative.”

Among the impactful initiatives recently launched by R.E.A.C.H. is the Respite Care Program, which provides a supportive space on weekends for children diagnosed with autism. The program focuses on self-help development and social skills through engaging, structured activities.

“We commend R.E.A.C.H. for making resources accessible and affordable for the general population,” expressed Maxine V. Seymour, Director of Corporate Communication at Colina. “One of the reasons why they are one of our primary partners is because we want to make sure all persons in The Bahamas, regardless of their situation, have access to equal and equitable support to help manage their condition.”

Additionally, R.E.A.C.H. introduced the Adult Youth Club, targeting older individuals with autism. Every weekend, participants engage in tailored experiences designed to foster self-expression and personal growth in a safe, inclusive environment.

This marks the fifth consecutive year Colina has illuminated its East Bay Street headquarters in blue throughout April. Employees showed support by purchasing and wearing autism awareness t-shirts every Friday during the month.

Colina remains dedicated to creating a more inclusive future, where every individual has access to the care and support they deserve. To learn more about R.E.A.C.H., visit reachbahamas.org/.
