Colina Hosts Students from The Bahamas Youth Development Program

Corporate Tour Offers Insights into Careers in Financial Services

Nassau, The Bahamas, June 13, 2025 – Colina Insurance Limited was pleased to welcome students from The Bahamas Youth Leadership Development Program (BYLD) as part of their ongoing corporate tour. The visit offered students a meaningful opportunity to explore careers in financial services.

Throughout the day, students heard from a range of professionals across Colina and CFAL who shared insights into their roles and the impact of their work. Among the speakers were Brandon Deyalsingh, Chief Actuary, who introduced students to the analytical world of actuarial science and its role in managing risk. Patricia Bain, Director of Human Resources, spoke about the importance of leadership and cultivating a strong workplace culture, while Natasha Burrows, Human Resources Administrator, offered practical advice on career readiness and professional development.

Richard Pinder, Client Relations Manager at CFAL, provided a look into the world of investments and wealth management, and Jamaice Rolle, Internal Audit Manager, discussed the importance of internal controls and accountability. Cameron Dean and Alexis McPhee, team members of Colina’s IT department, highlighted the role of technology in delivering reliable service.

The visit was coordinated by Chantal A. Horton, Communications Manager at Colina. “Colina is always excited to welcome students from the Bahamas Youth Leadership Development Program,” said Horton. “It is a meaningful opportunity for us to share knowledge and provide real-world insight into the career paths they are exploring.”

As part of its commitment to youth development and community engagement, Colina also made a $10,000 donation to support the continued success of the BYLD. The event reflects Colina’s dedication to investing in the next generation of Bahamian leaders and helping them thrive in their personal and professional journeys.

Launched on September 26, 2010 by former parliamentarian and cabinet minister The Hon. Zhivargo Laing and his team, the Marco City Youth Leadership Institute, now The Bahamas Youth Leadership Development Program, is a youth enrichment program for 11th and 12th grade students in The Bahamas. The program focuses on shaping the leaders of today and tomorrow. The participants develop skills and capabilities in areas like goalsetting, effective planning and organizing, time management, effective communication, effective decision-making and problem-solving, emotional intelligence, entrepreneurship, basic money management, teamwork, ethics, executing plans, and wellness and lifestyle training among others.
