Another great season for the Colina Distributors
Achieves second place in JBLN girls’ softball division; won the championship in 2025The Colina Distributors girls’ softball team, proudly sponsored by Colina Insurance Limited, achieved second place in the 2006 season of the Junior Baseball League of Nassau (JBLN).
The team, which has a history of success in the league, winning the championship in 2025, collected its trophies on Saturday, June 13, at the Field of Dreams Complex, St. Andrews International School.
Senator Keenan Johnson, parliamentary secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science & Technology, formally presented the awards.
The success of the Colina Distributors echoes the JBLN’s theme for its 2026 season, “Dream Beyond the Limits.”
Winton Sears, coach of the Colina Distributors, expressed his immense pride of the girls’ performance throughout the 2026 season.
“While we fell short of securing back-to-back championships, reaching the championship game itself is a testament to the team’s high level of play, commitment, and resilience,” he said.
According to Coach Sears, the team’s results this year are a direct reflection of the hard work, determination, and countless hours of practice invested by the players and coaching staff.
“Their dedication has been outstanding, and they have represented the program with excellence both on and off the field. I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to Colina Insurance Limited, our sponsors, for their continued support and commitment. Your partnership has been instrumental in helping us represent the brand with pride and professionalism.”
Coach Sears noted that although the team did not achieve its ultimate goal this season, it remains focused on the future, and is confident that the foundation it has built will continue to produce exceptional results in the seasons ahead.
“We are proud to actively champion youth development through our long-standing sports sponsorships and partnership with the JBLN,” said Maxine Seymour, director of corporate communications at Colina.
“Last season, our Colina Astros topped the coach pitch division, while our Colina Distributors won the girls’ softball title. We entered the 2026 season hoping to defend both.
“The Colina Distributors finished as runners-up this year, and both teams competed with determination, resilience and great sportsmanship throughout the season. We are proud of every player and grateful for the way they represented Colina on and off the field.”
