Nassau, The Bahamas, September 3, 2026 – Colina Insurance Limited recently lent its support to the Bahamas Sickle Cell Association (BSCA), as it marked the start of National Sickle Cell Awareness Month on Thursday, September 3, with an official naming ceremony at the future site of its Holistic Sickle Cell Centre on Carmichael Road.

The center will provide treatment and recovery services, including access to hydration, oxygen and pain management. Additionally, it will foster wellness, education, support, and advocacy for people living with sickle cell disease. It represents a major development in the BSCA’s longstanding effort to improve sickle cell disease care in The Bahamas. Roughly 10 percent of Bahamians carry the sickle cell gene.

Colina’s ongoing partnership with the BSCA is indicative of its strong commitment to health and wellness-based organizations and initiatives. The insurer was acknowledged by the BSCA as playing a meaningful role in the advancement of its mission over the years.

Colina has signed on to participate in the association’s Warriors Fun Run/Walk, on Friday, September 18, at the Elizabeth “Betty” Cole Park from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm. The event’s main goals are to raise awareness about the disease in The Bahamas and celebrate the resilience of Bahamians living with the disease, often referred to as “sickle cell warriors”.
