Colina supports Hands For Hunger on Paradise Plates 2026
Colina Insurance Limited once again demonstrated its commitment to the elimination of hunger and food insecurity in The Bahamas by becoming a sponsor of Paradise Plates, the nation’s premier culinary and philanthrophic experience, and the main fundraiser of charitable organization Hands For Hunger.
Paradise Plates 2026 took place on September 26 in the Imperial Ballroom at Atlantis Paradise Island. It was a night of gourmet food, wine, beer and cocktails, complemented by live entertainment and a 1970s disco theme.
This year, Colina Insurance Limited signed on as a Gourmand sponsor. The company’s booth at Paradise Plates featured a selection of mocktails by Marv “Mr. Mix Bahamas” Cunningham.
More than 150 of the nation’s top chefs, brewers and beverage purveyors participated, along with over 100 volunteers and 50 sponsoring companies. The sold-out event drew over 1,500 attendees.
“Paradise Plates is a wonderful event, and Colina is very happy to support it as a Gourmand sponsor,” said Marcus Bosland, Colina’s chief operating officer.
“Hands For Hunger does great work on the elimination of food insecurity in The Bahamas, and we are proud to support that important mission. Paradise Plates raises awareness about a very serious issue, but it is also a fun time.”
Along with bringing together chefs, restaurants, mixologists, and beverage partners, the event also featured an auction of original paintings by acclaimed Bahamian artist the late Stefan “Legend” Davis, a silent disco featuring three deejays, and live art keepsake experience.
The proceeds from Paradise Plates go toward Hands For Hunger’s programs, which include its pantry, school pantries, mobile community markets and empowerment program.
“No family should have to wonder whether there will be enough food on the table. That uncertainty affects more than a person’s health. It weighs on parents, children and the entire household. Paradise Plates brings people together around the joy of food while helping Hands For Hunger address a need that deserves our attention long after the evening ends,” said Maxine V. Seymour, director of corporate communications at Colina Insurance Limited.
“At Colina, we believe businesses have a responsibility to help strengthen the communities they serve. Supporting Hands For Hunger is one way we put that belief into action. Behind the issue of hunger are people with hopes, responsibilities and families to care for. They deserve dignity, nutritious food and support they can count on.”
Since its formation in 2008, Hands For Hunger has provided millions of meals to people throughout The Bahamas. This year, the organization’s goal is to raise $500,000 to fight food insecurity.
