Nassau, The Bahamas, August 10, 2026 – Colina Insurance Limited recently hosted its Summer School Program at its East Bay Street headquarters for over six weeks, beginning in mid-June. The program was created to provide Colina employees with a short-term childcare solution during the school vacation period.

Twenty-five children participated in enriching learning experiences that combined academic reinforcement with recreational, creative, and developmental activities designed to promote personal growth, teamwork, and confidence.

The program has been operating for several years under the guidance of the company’s Human Resources Department. According to Patricia Bain, director of human resources at Colina, the kids took part in a plethora of activities, including lessons focused on strengthening core skills in Mathematics, English Language, and Reading.

“Hands-on activities helped keep them engaged while reinforcing key academic concepts,” she said.

Beyond classroom instruction, students participated in a variety of extracurricular activities, including arts and crafts, music, sports, educational games, and team-building exercises.

“Field trips, cultural awareness activities, and a talent show also gave students opportunities to explore new interests and develop practical life skills,” Bain added.

“Overall, the Summer School Program was a meaningful and rewarding experience for the students,” she noted. “It successfully balanced learning and recreation, helping students stay academically engaged while enjoying a fun and memorable summer experience.”

According to Maxine Seymour, director of corporate communications at Colina, summer can be one of the most challenging times of the year for working parents, who face the added responsibility of finding safe, meaningful and engaging activities to keep their kids occupied.

“It is not easy to be fully present at work when your thoughts are with your children and whether they are being properly cared for. That is why we proudly offered this program for the children of our employees for another consecutive year. It gives our colleagues the reassurance that their children are in a safe, caring environment where they can continue learning, developing new skills, building friendships and enjoying their summer.”

Seymour added that the program builds on Colina’s years-long commitment to supporting its employees and their families through its on-site After School Programme, where teachers provide academic support and facilitate extracurricular activities for employees’ children throughout the regular school year.
