Colina mourns passing of long-serving sales representative Mitzi Barnett
Nassau, The Bahamas, August 24, 2026 – Colina Insurance Limited is mourning the passing of long-serving sales representative Mitzi Barnett, one of the company’s top medical insurance producers.
Barnett was known for the pride she took in her work and the warmth she extended to those around her. She executed her duties with professionalism and humility, qualities that earned her the respect of her coworkers.
On August 24, Colina hosted a memorial in her honor at its J. Whitney Pinder Building, which was attended by Barnett’s work colleagues, family members and friends.

Among those delivering brief remarks were Elrod Outten, director of sales; Marcus Bosland, chief operating officer; DeAndrea Lewis, vice president, life operations and sales; Wayne Miller, Palmdale Branch manager; and Monique Cartwright, sales manager. Rev. Pascal Saunders was on hand to deliver words of comfort to those in attendance.
During Barnett’s 17 years of dedicated service, she left a lasting impression on the company and the many customers she served.
“Mitzi was a valued member of the Colina family whose dedication and kindness touched the lives of many,” said Elrod Outten, director of sales at Colina.
“Her passing is a tremendous loss to all of us, and we extend our deepest condolences to her family, loved ones, friends and everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working with her.”
Barnett was also an active member of the Church of God Bahamas, serving as a minister and national fine arts director.
“While words cannot adequately express the sadness we feel at her passing, we are grateful for the years we shared with Mitzi and for the contribution she made to Colina,” said Marcus Bosland, Colina’s chief operating officer.
“We will remember her fondly and keep her family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
According to Wayne Miller, manager of Colina’s Palmdale Branch – where Barnett was stationed – she had a remarkable ability to make those around her feel valued.
“Mitzi demonstrated a strong commitment to serving her clients and achieving excellence in her role. Even in the midst of her personal challenges, she maintained a quiet strength that will be remembered and linger in our hearts for many years to come,” he said.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to her husband Robert, her beloved children and all who knew and loved her. May her memory be a blessing, and may she rest in peace.”
Mitzi Barnett is survived by her husband Robert Barnett, son Lathario Barnett, daughter Reodina Barnett, and adopted daughter Melinda Young.
Colina Insurance Limited extends its heartfelt sympathy to Barnett’s family and joins with them in celebrating her life and legacy.
