Colina officially opens new state-of-the-art branch at Southwest Plaza
Colina Insurance Limited officially opened a new state-of-the-art branch at Southwest Plaza on Thursday, May 28. The new branch represents a fundamental shift in how the company – a leading diversified financial services firm and the largest life and health insurer in The Bahamas – believes service should be delivered.
“This space looks and feels different from our traditional branches,” said Marcus Bosland, chief operating officer, Colina Insurance Limited.
“We have intentionally reduced our use of counters and barriers, and instead created an open, collaborative environment where our team members can sit alongside our clients. We want our interactions to be more personal, more engaging, and more empowering.”
According to Bosland, by removing the physical divides, the branch is creating opportunities for conversation, connection, and shared problem-solving.

“Importantly, this space also allows us to better support our clients in building confidence in the use of our self-service and digital tools. Rather than simply completing transactions for them, our team can now guide clients step-by-step, helping them learn, ask questions, and become more comfortable managing their needs independently.”
Bosland said the company’s hope is that the branch becomes more than just a place to conduct business, but also becomes a place where clients feel supported, informed, and empowered, where every interaction leaves them better equipped than before.
“This new concept reflects our commitment to providing the best service experience, while equipping our clients with the resources and guidance to make the best financial decisions.”
Bosland said he looks forward to seeing how Colina’s clients enjoy, learn and get their business done at the Southwest Plaza branch, and how the company takes the lessons learned from creating and working in that location, to reimagine what its other locations should look like.
“While Colina is new to Southwest Plaza, we are not new to the Carmichael Road area. This bustling part of New Providence is a very important community for us to serve, and we are pleased to have been able to find a location with sufficient space and convenient parking to make it easy for our clients to visit us.”
DeAndrea Lewis, vice president, life operations and sales at Colina, thanked the project team members who worked tirelessly to ensure a flawless launch of the new branch.
“At Colina, we believe that digital innovation is the way of the future. This office that we are in is the start of our transformation in that regard. From initial concept to final product, you worked tirelessly, with a few late nights and early mornings thrown in for good measure. Please join me for a moment and please take a bow. Your vision, hard work and attention to detail have transformed what a Colina payment and transaction center looks like. The spontaneous wows and words of appreciation from our regular Carmichael clients as they entered this new space are a testament to a job well done.”
Lewis thanked Emanuel M. Alexiou, chief executive officer of Colina Insurance Limited; Marcus Bosland, the company’s chief operating officer; and other members of the executive team for their unwavering support.
“You gave us a mission. Mission accomplished. We are pleased that we have been able to create a space where we can accommodate agents from all of our branches. This is a space where agents can arrange, at any point in time, to meet their clients.”
The branch, open from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., facilitates services and business transactions in regard to Colina Insurance Limited, as well as Colina General Insurance Agents & Brokers Limited, and Indigo Insurance (Bahamas) Limited.
“We cover you no matter what the circumstances are,” Lewis emphasized.
She also thanked noted Bahamian artist Allan Pachino Wallace, who was commissioned by Colina to create a large, gorgeous mural in the Southwest Plaza branch.
Wallace expressed his pride in regard to the mural, and thanked Colina not just for the opportunity, but also for the services it provides to him and his family.
“I’m really proud of it. It represents the circle of life and how much Colina takes care of you throughout your life’s journey,” he noted.
Dana Munnings-Gray, superintendent of insurance at the Insurance Commission of The Bahamas, congratulated Colina Insurance Limited on its continued commitment to enhancing its footprint throughout The Bahamas. She added that the new branch speaks to Colina’s focus on innovation, excellence and inclusivity.
“Companies like Colina set the pace for where we want to see our registrants and licensees. This is what we want to see, innovation. We have to do things differently. The new branch shows that Colina is committed not just to the industry, but also to the community, and to providing excellent customer service to the community.”
