Nassau, The Bahamas, May 29,2025 – In recognition of Lupus Awareness Month, Colina Insurance Limited (Colina) reaffirmed its commitment to supporting individuals diagnosed with the disease by donating $5,000 to Lupus 242.

The nonprofit organization offers essential support to individuals throughout The Bahamas who are living with lupus. They hold meetings focused on lupus, providing a platform for individuals to share their experiences in the lupus support group. They work diligently to spread information, even when they are not highlighting specific personal stories.

“We are pleased to once again partner with Colina as a corporate sponsor for Lupus Awareness Month,” said Shonalee Johnson, President of Lupus 242. “This has been a relationship that has been fostered over time and we are truly grateful for the level of support that Colina continues to provide for us every year.”

She noted that the organization is especially focused on ensuring that assistance reaches those who need it most.

“This year in particular, we look forward to utilizing the funds that were given toward the support of our members directly,” said Johnson.

Throughout May, Colina staff also participated in the organisation’s ‘Put On Purple’ initiative by wearing purple every Friday in solidarity with those affected by lupus. The initiative, led by Lupus 242, aims to raise awareness and show visible support for individuals living with the chronic autoimmune disease.

“Joining forces with Lupus 242 every year is a commitment that Colina does not take lightly,” said Maxine V. Seymour. “Lupus, being a heartless disease, requires a lot of people to rally behind those going through it so that they know they are not fighting this illness alone.”
