Colina’s COO Marcus Bosland Participates in MAB’s Opening Panel and Addresses AI in Healthcare

Nassau, The Bahamas, March 25, 2026 – Colina Insurance Limited (Colina’s) Chief Operating Officer and Director on the National Health Insurance (NHI) board, Marcus Bosland, participated as a panelist at the 54th Annual Scientific Conference hosted by the Medical Association of The Bahamas (MAB).

The three-day conference kicked off with a panel discussion titled “Breaking Barriers with Innovation: Physician Judgment, AI and Liability in the New Era of Accessible Care,” which examined the growing role of technology in healthcare and the considerations surrounding its use in patient care.

“From the health insurer’s perspective, AI is a powerful tool with tremendous potential,” Bosland said. He explained that its impact is already being seen across multiple areas of the healthcare ecosystem.

“It changes how risks are identified, how medical care is delivered, how insurance services are administered and ultimately how responsibility is shared across physicians, medical institutions, insurers and regulators,” said Bosland.

Bosland added that the focus remains on ensuring innovation delivers meaningful outcomes, explaining that insurers are focused on ensuring that innovation improves medical outcomes and customer satisfaction without creating new, unmanaged risks.

The panel, moderated by Jerome Sawyer, included Bosland along with Chadwick Williamson, CIO of NHIA Bahamas, Kimdashe Nabbie-Sherman, VP of Quality and Standards at Doctors Hospital, Dr Darius Bain from Live Well Bahamas, and Shantelle Munroe from Shantell Munroe & Co. They engaged in discussions about how innovation is shaping access, delivery, and decision-making in contemporary healthcare systems.

The conference is being held at the British Colonial in Nassau and continues through Friday, March 27, with sessions focused on developments in healthcare. Bosland’s participation highlights the importance of staying engaged in discussions that continue to shape how care is delivered and supported.
