International Women’s Day Donations Support Women’s Safety and Education

New Providence, The Bahamas, February 26, 2026 – Colina Insurance Limited (Colina) celebrated International Women’s Day with donations to two organisations dedicated to supporting women at critical points in their lives, Providing Access to Continued Education (PACE) and The Bahamas Crisis Centre.

A $5,000 donation was presented to PACE, a programme that supports young mothers as they work to continue their education and build a path forward. Principal Patrice Miller described the impact of the contribution on the students they serve. “This donation means survival for many of our students, as they come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. It will go a long way in providing the support they need,” Miller said.

She noted that the programme is designed to help each student move forward with purpose and direction.“At PACE, we focus on creating opportunities, whether that means returning to mainstream high school, pursuing tertiary education, or entering the National Training Agency.”

Miller added that the transformation of the young women continues to be the most meaningful part of the work. “When the girls come to us, they often feel broken, as though the world has treated them unfairly. But when we see them regain their hope, when we see the relief and comfort on their faces, that is what keeps us going. Knowing that we are making a difference is my greatest motivation.”

Colina also donated $10,000 to The Bahamas Crisis Centre, which provides support and intervention services for individuals facing abuse and other challenges.

Cleopatra Christie, Administrator and Legal Advisor at the Centre, expressed appreciation for the support.

“Colina has been a consistent supporter of the Centre for a number of years, and we truly appreciate the kindness they have shown,” Christie said. “In addition to their financial contributions, they have also provided access to their J. Whitney Pinder Building for our meetings, which has been incredibly helpful to our work.”

Christie noted that the Centre continues to respond to increasingly complex cases, including a rise in suicide-related concerns, and that the donation will assist with training initiatives and other programmes aimed at strengthening its response.

Director of Corporate Communications at Colina, Maxine V. Seymour, said the donations reflect the importance of supporting spaces that care for and uplift women.

“To know that these contributions can help women and young girls find their footing and move forward means a great deal to us,” Seymour said. “We are proud to play a part in their journey.”

Through support for organisations like PACE and The Bahamas Crisis Centre, Colina continues to stand alongside initiatives that provide care, guidance, and opportunity for women across the country.

In recognition of International Women’s Day, team members across the company also showed their support by wearing purple, joining a global movement that highlights the achievements and strength of women.
