Colina Insurance Limited is once again partnering with the CIBC Walk for the Cure, an event that helps support cancer care organizations and programs.

The leading insurer, which has supported the fund-raising initiative for the past decade, has signed on as a bronze sponsor, and will also have staff members participating in the walk/run.

During a ceremony on September 18 at Colina’s East Bay Street headquarters, Terrance Gibson, head of country, CIBC Caribbean, thanked Colina for its many years of support.

“It is key that sponsors like Colina continue to contribute towards the Walk for the Cure. This is for a very worthy cause. We all know someone who has been affected by cancer. For us at CIBC it’s a labor of love, not just in The Bahamas, but across the Caribbean and we thank Colina for being a part of it.”

This year, the walk/run will occur on a number of islands throughout the month of October: New Providence on October 3, Grand Bahama on October 10, Abaco on October 17, and Eleuthera on October 31.

“Every island gets its own event, so this year there is a broader level of participation throughout The Bahamas,” said Antionette Fox, business analyst, managing director’s office, CIBC FirstCaribbean, who was also present at the September 18 ceremony.

“Colina has always been a wonderful partner of and participant in Walk for the Cure. It has always come on board as a sponsor of the event and we are so grateful for their partnership over the years,” she added.

The CIBC Walk for the Cure has become an important part of the fight against cancer In The Bahamas, combining fundraising with awareness, education and community solidarity. Its financial impact is substantial, with funds raised assisting with cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment equipment; medical exams and scans, patient and family support, counseling, cancer education and awareness campaigns, among other challenges.

“Cancer touches virtually every community in The Bahamas.
